Level Designer
Are you a level (or world) designer who wants to build places players love to explore and play in? Here, you’ll be creating worlds, levels, and goofy gameplay interactions by crafting flows and turning ideas into playable prototypes on a daily basis.
We're looking for someone with a strong sense of spatial design, pacing, and player psychology, who enjoys iterating hands-on in the engine and refining moments until they feel right. If you’re excited by shaping environments that tell stories through play, experimenting with layouts and mechanics, and seeing your ideas come to life immediately, this is your chance to do exactly that. You'll be working on one of our new, goofy and ridiculous games and will join a multi-disciplinary team to collaboratively create and expand on the game world.
Okay, let’s get more specific. Here’s what you’ll do on a day-to-day
You’ll build open, non-linear and interconnected levels for our take on a silly open world game in Unity.
You’ll work closely with gameplay designers to explore the limits of existing gameplay elements and inspire their continued development.
Most importantly, you’ll create a wonderful, absurd world that feels alive, filled with places where players want to hang out.
Must-haves
You have 4+ years of experience and have shipped games as part of a team in the past.
You’ve worked with Unity extensively.
You have illustrative work samples you can share with us (e.g., a portfolio, your personal website, a very detailed CV outlining your involvement and responsibilities on past projects).
Your design approach is broad, and cross-disciplinary, meaning that you always consider all game dev perspectives when designing.
You’re receptive to feedback and, at the same time, you’re critical and outspoken yourself.
You work self-sufficiently and independently. Here, that means everything is everyone’s problem and if you spot one, you proactively take care of it, either by fixing it yourself or finding someone who can.
Nice-to-haves
You have extensive experience in open world and/or non-linear level design.
You have experience with quest design.
You have experience in other game development disciplines (e.g., illustration, 3D modelling, sound design, music, UI, you name it).
You’re familiar with programming (any language is great).
